Hi
i am facing a strange error, i have downloaded latest version of sync using the application and used that pen drive to update from 19274 non nav Row. But for around 60 + minutes the system shows updation in progress. No errors and no updated msg⦠So i tried to update it manually, still same issue. For checking, i tried the old two pendrive installation method and when putting the first pendrive it shows updating system for long nothing else is happening. How can i solve this issue.
Are you currently on 3.4.19274 or is that the version you wish to go to?
What is the model year of your car?
currently on 19274 and trying to update to latest 20196. Ford ecosport 2018 model
Ok, it seems like the system does not have enough space to install the update. Some users have solved this issue by removing their Gracenotes package. You can try this by following the guide here:
If you choose to remove Gracenotes and the installation will still not complete, you can try downgrading to 3.3 and then doing a full reformat and install to 3.4.20196.
Edit:
If you remove Gracenotes, the update succeeds, and you would like to re-install Gracenotes you can follow this guide:

this is the log file.
Yes, as I expected it appears that your unit does not have enough space to perform the update as is. Notice the /fs/images/ section has 1.1GB available. If you have less than 1.5GB free the system will likely not be able to update as the system copies the update file (~800MB) and then extracts it (at least another ~800MB).
You can proceed with trying to remove Gracenotes as described in the tutorial above, which should free up enough space to install the update. After the update is complete, follow the other guide to add Gracenotes again if you wish.
It should also be noted that some non-nav units simply donβt have the space to fit everything including Gracenotes. So you may end up with Gracenotes failing to re-install.
Hi,
Iβm facing the same issue currently on Sync 3.4.20136. Anyway to free up the space?

That looks like a NON-NAV unit that you put maps onto? 8GB Storage?
What is the model, year, region, etc.?
Remove the maps partition and you can upgrade, but you will not be able to have maps.
Install 3.3.19052 using an Autoinstall.lst file, just like you would 3.4.20196. You have enough room to downgrade to 3.3.19052 and then install 3.4.20196.
Hi F150chief,
Itβs on Ranger Wildtrak 2018 Non-Nav ROW - JS7T-14G371-JED
Thanks
You will need to downgrade to 3.3.19052 and then use the reformat tool to install 3.4.20196 with voice and Gracenotes. Apparently it looks like someone tried to install maps on your unit, hence the maps partition. The reformat tool will free up that space and allow you to upgrade. Choose downgrade in the Syn3 Updater and choose NON-NAV, or no maps. And ROW for the region.
Thanks F150chief.
Let me try and update later
Hello F150 boss, the same thing happens to me but even if I want to degrade, I canβt stay read and nothing happens, this is what he throws at me, can you guide me?

Is this an 8 inch screen or 4 inch screen?
Yes it is 8GB. 8" screen, no nav.
it is 8 inch screen without browser
Did you try this and what was the outcome
What version of Sync are you currently on? 3.4.xxx?
If you are on 3.4, do thisβ¦
Download 4U5T-14G381-AN_1552583626000.TAR.GZ.
The file can be found in the APIM IVSU Database.
Follow the instructions below:
- Create a USB drive (format as EXFAT) with a SyncMyRide folder.
- Copy the file downloaded above into the SyncMyRide folder.
- In the root of the USB is the autoinstall.lst and DONTINDX.MSA files which you can obtain from any upgrade you previously performed.
- You will need to edit the autoinstall.lst file so it looks like the example below:Autoinstall.lst contents:
[SYNCGen3.0_ALL]
Item1 = 4U5T-14G381-AN_1552583626000.TAR.GZ
Open1 = SyncMyRide\4U5T-14G381-AN_1552583626000.TAR.GZ
Options = Delay,AutoInstall
- Insert USB in vehicle and wait for the installation to complete. You should see a message indicating completion.
This should force a downgrade to 3.3.19052 and then you will be able to upgrade using the Syn3 Updater app from 3.3.19052 to 3.4.20196.
Hi F150chief,
Still unsuccessful attempt.
I will keep trying. Thanks
Did the unit downgrade to 3.3.19052?
I have another trick if it didnβtβ¦reduce the size of the voice file and return storage. When you run this you wonβt see any results outright, except the language will be wrong. Donβt worry, when you do the reformat thru the Syn3 Updater this will get fixed.
Ranger Wildtrak 2018 Non-Nav ROW (This is just a note for meβ¦fill out the vehicle in your profile if you could, please.)
Download https://ivsubinaries.azureedge.net/swparts/5U5T-14G391-CL_1580862907000.TAR.GZ

Now do the downgrade as beforeβ¦

Good morning, I have tried and I know that it does not matter updating but it never ends, there will be another way to do it
