I updated my 2017 Continental from 3.0 to 3.4. 20196
Took about 30 minutes.
Did the master reset right after install
I wish all software was this easy!! No problems with the install.

One hiccup… I cannot access Android Auto either in Bluetooth or USB. Even with my phone plugged into the USB port, and android auto running on my phone, the SYNC does not see it. Therefore I have no access to Google, Waze, etc. Phone works fine for making calls, etc through the SYNC.

It has been about 3 days since I did the install, so the system has been on/off multiple times.

Any help most appreciated!

Thanks
Terry

Delete phone from Sync, Delete Sync from phone, reboot phone, re-pair phone once rebooted. Does the phone see Sync?

Thank you - that worked.
Appreciate the help!

Hello! I’m using the app trying to update from 19200 to 20196. Everything is downloaded and checked ok, but when i plug the usb drive in the car, the auto update message appears and it stays there forever. Yesterday I’ve waited for 55 minutes and the message didn’t change. Is anything wrong or should I try the reformat way ?

Post the log file, it’s on your USB drive

NON-NAV with no room to upgrade because it already has 3.4.19200 installed.

Go read this thread and join it with your issue.

Hi Carlos, the same thing happens to me, I left it up to 50 minutes and nothing.

Could you please run the APIM Interrogator Utility and post the storage data here.

If you used the SYN3 Updater, please post the log file that is on the USB root.

Tried everything on the post, none worked. One question still remains: to get 19200 i did the old manual reformat tutorial, from 3.0.19205 to 3.4.19200. If I do the same for 20196, will work?

The storage (before the gracenote removal):

RAM=“414330880” vmcuVersion=“Vector_VMCU_02.02.20”>
<d2p1:PartitionHealth type="/fs/Nuance/" total=“1.3G” available=“58M”/>
<d2p1:PartitionHealth type="/fs/Nuance/grace" total=“1.1G” available=“63M”/>
<d2p1:PartitionHealth type="/fs/rwdata/" total=“1.2G” available=“991M”/>
<d2p1:PartitionHealth type="/fs/rwdata/quip/" total=“35M” available=“25M”/>
<d2p1:PartitionHealth type="/fs/rwdata/quip/" total=“90M” available=“88M”/>
<d2p1:PartitionHealth type="/fs/mp/" total=“1.4G” available=“144M”/>
<d2p1:PartitionHealth type="/fs/images/" total=“3.0G” available=“403M”/>

Remove Gracenotes, then downgrade to 3.3.19052.

See the tutorial page.

You will get 1.1GB returned to storage and should be able to downgrade.

I see you mention this a lot, is my gracenotes removal not working then?

I think the NON-NAV units are rather finicky about the storage for upgrades, and these in this thread in particular are special cases I think. Remember the conversation about rebooting the unit after running the Gracenotes delete script? I think this is a case where that has been beneficial. I would like to test the theory…

Yup, keep me updated :slight_smile:

Hello, this is my first post on here.
Today I successfully updated to Sync 3.4.20196, but when using Syn3 Updater, I selected “Keep Existing Maps”, so maps were not updated.
Is there a way I can update maps from F7 to F9 please?
Thanks in advance, Ian

Repeat the process, make sure to update your current version if not already done and then simply select new maps.

OK, selected new current version as 3.4.20196 in Configuration.
Then in New Sync 3 Version secion, selected

  • Region: EU
  • Version: Sync 3.4.20196
  • Map Version: F9 (2019) - EU (09/2020)

When I do that it shows “Downgrade” in bottom left corner.
I’ve acknowledged prompts to confirm the vehicle is not 2020.
It’s in the process of creating the USB now - Thankfully I already have 27.7GB of tar.gz files that had been saved to my machine, so these do not need downloading again.

Is what I have done correct?
Just want to be 100% sure.

Thanks very much for your help and advice.
Ian!
