Completed the update to 3.4.20196 today on my Ford Fiesta MK8.
From experience with software on mobile devices, I always feel much more comfortable attempting upgrades from fresh. For this reason, I downgraded and used the format tool, and then upgraded and installed the new F9/09 map with this update.
After install I performed a master reset.
This update seems FAR more responsive and fluid than 20136. Startup is noticeably quicker when entering the car, and the shutdown animation is far smoother. This could be just me, but audio quality at least through CarPlay seems improved too.
One thing I did notice, when playing audio over Bluetooth adjusting the volume on my phone had zero effect on the volume of the system. It was either mute, or full blast and volume controlled by the unit. This could be an iPhone bug or a one off, I donāt really use Bluetooth Audio so itās not a major issue for me. Bluetooth is still relatively laggy at changing songs, showing the title on screen around 1-2 seconds before playback.
This also added Radio Logos for DAB in the UK. On first boot most radio logoās didnāt show. A master reset seemed to fix this, although for some stations logos are still not displayed.
Somebody asked what the new maps added, well this just could be me but some new estates were built near the beginning of this year which werenāt complete until a few months ago. These estates show up on my navigation unit and Iām fairly certain they didnāt before.
Will report back if I have any issues over the next few days, but so far so good
PS: When I went to 20136 I followed the manual process on a Mac. This time I decided to use Bootcamp and use the Automated Method. What an absolutely amazing program, thank-you so much. What took me 6 1/2 hours on a Mac took me less than two hours with this program. When I can afford to contribute, believe me I will.
From the error list here on the website:
LST_ERR08 ā Error is LST_ERR_OPEN_LIMIT_EXCEEDED ā Fix: you can only have 10 items in the autoinstall.lst, remove extras.
Install the maps separately, or use the downloader app to downgrade and reformat with the maps. You have an EU nav unit?
Hi there, I think Iāve found the bugā¦ I used wrong usb port for updating, the one which is under dasboard, not the one which is located under the armrest box. Whatās interesting is that port under dashboard recognize usb stick for reformating, but after restart it wonāt recognize update packages. It was looking for usb stick which is under armrest box.
Sorry for my stupidity, hope it helps future users.
I could give that a goābut is the improvement just in the UI that creates the USB, or would I end up with different files on the USB that would then make the upgrade to the car go more smoothly?
OK, thanks for your help. I already have the USB created from the soon-to-be old app using the settings above, so sounds like thereās no point waiting to re-create that. But Iāll give the new app a look later anyway.
hello together. i hope someone could help me because im a littel bit confused now.
i was on sync 3.3 19052. and do the upgrade with the cynlab sync updater to the latest 3.4 20196. i choose no maps and thought it will keep the F8 maps. but it seems like it delted the Maps part from my sync. im am now on 3.4 20196 but without navigation. then i donwload the 20196 again with the latest F9 maps but i can update it because sync shows me PKG ERROR 4.
could someone tell me what exactly i can do now? thx
Yes because as mentioned the old version wasnāt fully automatic in creating downgrades or anything, use the new application and make sure you specify your current version correctly. insert the USB and all will be good.
So with the new app Version the update worked. It Did a downgrade first and then installed the newest 3.4. has to check if all is working now in the next day. Thx for your help
