Version 22251 Issues Arising?

Hi…if I wish to go back to a lower version, say 21265 from my current 22251 build is it just a matter of putting my current 3.4.22251 in the ‘current’ syn3 updater box and version 3.4.21265 in the desired update box along with the latest maps again and go ahead with the download?
Sorry…I am a novice at this

Yes, but if you just want to downgrade sync3 to a more stable build, keep your current maps.

Thank you…I downloaded maps ANZ 2.21 with the previous download of 22251 so I just include those same map details again in the new lower version download to 21265 as they are the latest maps currently?

  • if your rwdata partition is not as free as it should, reformat the unit if you can with whichever version/map you want, since reformat is the only way to clear the partition’s content.
  • if your rwdata partition is ok, keep your current maps and just downgrade sync3. Syn3updater has an option to “keep maps”, whatever version they are, won’t be touched.

For more information check the documentation .

Hello, I’m having the same issues (missing settings, random black screens etc.) on a Ford Focus Sync 3, build 3.4.22251. I’ve run the interrogator utility and, looking at the log, I suppose my rwdata partition is full. Now my question is, what I have to do since I suppose my apim is My20+ (car bought in 2021) ? From what I’ve understood doing a reformat would end up in bricking my unit, so I’m quite confused…

You should carefully read this → APIM Sync Settings Not Saving, VER_ERR08 Errors, Cannot Perform Master Reset or Upgrades/Updates (Solved)

Back in mid of February I upgraded my sync from 3.0.20204 to 3.4.22251 with on attempt without any issues.
However, early this month it started to act strangely. Updates requests popped up every time I turn on the car, screen turned black with turning on the camera for up to 30 MPH. Then, I started looking at solutions. While master reset is not working ( once i hit continuou it stuck forever. I have tried all the possible downloads through sync updater tool with no luck. Every attempt has a different error code (VER_ERR08, SIGN_ERR01, PKG_ERR04). I also trid interrogator tool but an error code ( MEM_ERR03) appears on the screen after inserting the stick on the car. I also did a soft reset with no luck at all. I tried two different USB. Now, I gave up and I am seeking for your advice.

Have you even read the post above yours???

Hi,
Thanks for replying.
There is some improvement.
I’ve tried the gracenotes removal tool and it worked out, then i used the interrogator tool in a different stick and i got the following results:

Kindly advise… Thank you in advance.

Please read the thread I’ve told you before, since I’m not sure what you are reading or doing.

The troubleshooting thread for your issue has no mention whatsoever to Gracenotes, yet you removed it for whatever reason… :man_shrugging:

You won’t fix your issue by doing random stuff…
Your rwdata partition is full, no gracenote removal will clear that up.
You need to follow the tutorial’s instructions.

If you have any particular doubt ask, but please read before asking, since the tutorial is quite well written and detailed.

Again, thanks for replying and consideration.
I actually read and followed the instructions.
As I mentioned earlier i did the soft reset but not FORscan as i don’t have the toolkit. For the reformat it gives an error VER_ERR08.
Then, I tried the gracenotes tool, but still no luck as well.
The question here, how did determine the rwdata is full, can you explain please. Thanks

This is in the detailed tutorial:

This is from your logs:

Great…
Now I just followed this ” If the unit is not MY20+, and you are running Sync 3 later than version 3.4.19200, you will need to use the Syn3 Updater to downgrade
And got this error after downgrading to 3.3.19052

Have you performed the multiple hard and soft resets sequence before attempting the downgrade?.

Yes i did that too many times for soft rest.
I did also disconnect the battery for 2 minutes.

Disconnecting the battery won’t do anything.

The idea behind the multiple HARD and SOFT resets sequence is to clear just enough space in that partition so that the process can start. So you should MR → SR → SR → Insert the USB.

If that does not free up some space, you can only try the last option: jailbreaking the unit, which may not work either.

Everything that we know until now for solving the issue is on that guide, if that does not work for you, then you are sadly out of luck.

Trying now to check with 3.4.19200 ver…

For the hard rest I followed this Version 22251 Issues Arising? - #19 by SaNdMaN

Would you mind providing more explanation for this process?

I mean here, how can i do master reset (MR) while it’s not working as I mentioned before.?!
Thank you.

I’m confused, thought it was running but has a error?

Have you performed the 2 soft reboots after you downgraded to Sync 3.3? If you are at Sync 3.3, you should just perform the reformat to the latest Sync version 3.4.23088.
